Eco-Friendly One Hour Fire Protection

Strong, versatile and ultimately recyclable, steel is arguably the world’s most important non-domestic construction material, yet it remains vulnerable to fire and requires protection in both exposed and non-exposed applications. As an acknowledged expert in the field, Nullifire has available a well proven water-based coating able to meet the challenge in a wide variety of situations.

S708 has been formulated to take the place of traditional, solvent based intumescent coatings - containing 90% less Volatile Organic Compounds, while offering beneficial application characteristics and achieving a smoother, higher quality finish.

With the level of VOCs cut from a typical figure of 200 g/litre to just 20 g/litre, S708 can be applied to steelwork of any section type in occupied work areas, without presenting a hazard to other trades or even any significant odour. In contrast, using solvent based products can interrupt programmes, continuing to release VOCs for long periods, even after occupation.

So while traditional based products can remain soft, adversely affecting performance, Nullifire’s S708 can be over-coated within 24 hours. Importantly, though, the base coat can be left exposed to the elements for up to six months while the construction process continues. Then in the event of a fire, the coating expands to many times its original thickness to form a foam that chars and insulates the steelwork from the effects of the fire.

The system is fully approved to BS 476 Parts 20/21 1987, and is rated Class 0 for the spread of flame, whilst it has already been tested to ETAG 018 Part 2 ready for CE marking.

All of the technical and beneficial properties to S708 are full explained within a six page gate-fold brochure, while customers can also seek assistance direct form Nullifire’s specification sales team.  A nationwide network of approved application specialists is available to undertake warranty guaranteed work on all types of project.
